Turkwel Sunset
In remote northern Kenya is the Turkana Basin. An ancient caldera where the Turkwel river flows into Lake Turkana. While visiting the Turkana Basin Institute in August 2018, on an amateur expedition to look for 13-million year old fossils, we were witness to amazing sunsets everyday.
A sad note: on a subsequent visit in October 2023, I noticed that the acacia tree was gone. In a rare storm in this semi-arid landscape, the tree was blown over. The scene just doesn't look the same.
